WHAT IS IT?
A chin implant can be used to provide more projection of the chin, and improve the overall harmony and balance of the face. This procedure is often combined with other procedures such as a rhinoplasty or facelift for an enhanced result.
TYPES OF INCISIONS
The implant is placed through either an incision inside the mouth or a small incision underneath the chin, both of which result in a well-hidden scar.
PROCEDURE
Chin augmentation requires requires IV sedation and local anesthetic. It takes approximately 1.5 hours. A micro screw is used to fasten the implant in place; this prevents any unwanted movement and ensures an excellent result.
HEALING
Suggested time off work: 5 days
Walking: Walking is started on the same day as surgery
Exercise: Limited exercise at 1 week
Other: If the incision is placed inside the mouth, heavy foods and large bites need to be avoided for 7 days.
