A small incision is made on the inside of the mouth to access the buccal fat. There are no external incisions.
The surgery is performed under light sedation and local anesthetic and takes about 1 hour. The buccal fat is about the size of a golf ball or ping-pong ball. Buccal fat pad surgery can be done in conjunction with other procedures to further enhance the facial contour. The location of buccal fat deep within the face prevents its removal with liposuction.
Suggested time off work: 2 days
Walking: Walking is started on the same day as surgery
