WHAT IS IT?

Wrinkles of the face may not be removed with surgery alone (i.e. facelift or browlift), especially those around the mouth and eyes. Laser resurfacing acts by removing the top layers of skin, allowing the skin to heal in from the bottom layers, bringing in new collagen and elastic fibers, which results in fewer wrinkles. With deep laser resurfacing, this healing process takes 2-3 months.

In order to treat wrinkles, the laser must penetrate deep enough into the skin. Light laser treatments (with less recovery) give minimal results because they do not penetrate deep enough to remove wrinkles. The difference between chemical peels and lasers will be discussed in your consultation and the treatment plan will be tailored to your skin type.

PROCEDURE

Laser resurfacing requires IV sedation, takes approximately 1.5 hours.
